Bosonic Modes: Instruction Sets for Quantum Control and Quantum Error Correction Beyond the Break-Even Point
Girvin, Steven - Yale University
Presentation on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2022, noon
Location: MIT CUA Room
Hybrid quantum computer architectures containing both discrete variable objects (qubits) and continuous variable objects (bosonic oscillator modes) offer great advantages for both quantum simulations of physical models containing bosons and for quantum error correction. This talk will provide an introduction to instructions sets that are experimentally available for control of such hybrid structures. The talk will conclude with an application of these ideas in a recent experiment from the Devoret group achieving quantum error correction distinctly beyond the break-even point using the GKP bosonic code.
